Department of Public Works. The Engineering/Transportation Division and Highway/Sanitation Division work with the National Grid, the sole natural gas distributor. It delivers to properties and manages these metal covers (left). The Water/Sewer Division manages the municipal water system, including for fire protection. Brookline's water is from the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority, supplied by the Quabbin and Wachusett reservoirs in Central MA.

Apartment patio in Precinct 10. Brookline has a population of about 63,00 residents. About 27,000 households, size 2.26. About half are families.

I see Griggs Park daily. Brookline turned the 3.3 acres, once farm wetland of the Griggs family, into a playground in 1903. The Dept. of Public Works (Parks and Open Space Division) managed its 1997-98 renovation.
